Free Image Translator Online — Extract & Translate Text (OCR)
Upload a photo, sign, menu, or screenshot and get the translated text back. Text is read locally in your browser — only the extracted text (never your image) is sent for translation.
Free Online Image Translator
This tool lets you translate text that appears inside a photo — a sign, menu, label, screenshot, or scanned document — without typing anything yourself. It uses OCR to read the text directly in your browser, then sends only that text to a translation service to get the result in your chosen language.
How it works
Upload an image, choose the language the text is written in and the language you want it translated to, then click Translate. The extracted text appears on the left so you can double-check or edit it, and the translated version appears on the right, ready to copy or download.
Supported languages
Includes English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Sinhala, Tamil, Bengali, Dutch, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my photo sent to a server?
- No. Text is extracted from the image locally in your browser. Only the resulting text (not the picture itself) is sent to the translation service.
- How accurate is the translation?
- It uses a free public translation API, which works well for everyday text but may be less precise for idioms, slang, or highly technical wording.
- Is there a text length limit?
- Long text is automatically split into smaller chunks and translated in sequence, so longer passages are supported.
